EXHIBIT "A" <br />Redwood City Public Works Services <br />Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center's Services Communication and Conflict <br />Resolution Skills Training <br />Scope: <br />Training Objectives <br />1. Introduce participants to conflict, its causes and styles. <br />2. Introduce basic communication skills as a way to prevent conflict or to <br />keep conflict from escalating. <br />3. Practice active listening and basic communication skills. <br />4. Empower participants with communication and conflict management <br />skills. <br />Training <br />PCRC's training center focuses on skill development for individuals and <br />groups through a combination of theory, discussion, and practical exercises. <br />The PCRC team identified the following ways in which PCRC's services can <br />support the Public Works staff: <br />• 3 to 4 hour trainings that will include <br />o Understanding conflict <br />o Active listening <br />o Effective communication skills <br />o De-escalating conflict <br />o Understanding needs and interests <br />o Defining the situations <br />o Role-plays with difficult conversations and debrief <br />• One hour workshops, brown bags for employees to share their experiences <br />based on the training, gain additional practice and receive feed back <br />• Consulting and coaching for individual employees as desired (covered <br />under the City's existing facilitation and mediation contract with PCRC) <br />Confidentiality and transparency are two of the key factors to PCRC's success. <br />PCRC will use the information from the training for the purpose of achieving <br />the objectives described on this proposal. PCRC will also list your organization as <br />a partner on its website and the training services rendered to your agency. <br />Payment and Billing <br />PCRC bills 40% of the lowest range of the fee -far -service at the start of the <br />project and the rest at the completion of the project. Any unpaid fees will <br />become overdue 30 days after payment is required and will be subject to a 1% <br />late fee for each month of delayed payment.
