6.1.E. - Page 4
• The percentage of 4th graders able to complete proper sit-up went from 27.4%
to 71 .1%
• The percentage of 5th graders able to complete trunk lifts went from 53% to
90.2%
• On average, 5th graders reduced their mile time by over 1 minute
•
The benefit of a strong partnership between PCC and PROS allows us to share
resources and curriculum knowledge, meet State standards, leverage School District
relationships, and build our youth outreach and wellness initiatives.
ALTERNATIVES
The Council could choose not to sign the Agreement thereby foregoing the delivery
of the program.
FISCAL IMPACT
The individual partner schools along with Redwood City School District funding for
programming amounts to $104,614 which will be paid to the City. This is in addition to
the Sequoia Healthcare District's grant award of $320,234 to the City. Collectively, these
funds allow the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department to hire
qualified staff, provide program training to staff, and cover costs of equipment and
miscellaneous supplies related to the education, instruction, and promotion of the PE
Plus program.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under CEQA as defined in CEQA Guidelines, section
15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or foreseeable physical
change in the environment.
CHRISTOPHER BETH
DIRECTOR
PARKS, RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES
