Atherton Creek between Marsh Road and Rolison Road; Latitude <br /> 37°28'54.02"N, Longitude 122° 11 '01 .07"W; adjacent to APNs: 055-251 -250 and <br /> 055-251 -350. <br /> PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> As part of routine maintenance activities, to maintain channel capacity and prevent <br /> flooding of adjacent commercial and industrial areas in the vicinity of Atherton Creek, <br /> the project includes removal of sediment, in-stream vegetation, vegetation on the bank, <br /> and debris and trash within the channel. <br /> Routine maintenance activities authorized under this Agreement are limited to the <br /> following: <br /> • Removal of Sediment in the Stream Channel Bottom and around Bridges, <br /> Culverts, Storm Drain Outlets and Water Diversion Inlets — Utilizing a clamshell <br /> bucket for removal of sediment in a concrete-lined portion and an earthen <br /> bottom portion of Atherton Creek to maintain channel capacity; <br /> O Removal of Obstructions around Structures and Facilities — Utilizing hand tools <br /> and a clamshell bucket for removal of trash and debris embedded within the <br /> stream channel and utilizing hand tools where clamshell bucket cannot reach; <br /> O Vegetation Management within the Channel and Lower Stream Bank - Utilizing <br /> hand tools for removal of living vegetation in the channel and on the lower half of <br /> the creek banks. Trees and other woody vegetation shall only be trimmed, not <br /> removed; <br /> O Vegetation Management on Upper Half of Bank and Top of Levee - Utilizing <br /> hand tools for removal of vegetation and mowers for mowing levee slopes and <br /> top of bank; <br /> O Removal of Invasive, Non-native Plants — Removal of invasive, non-native plants <br /> utilizing hand tools. <br /> PROJECT IMPACTS <br /> Existing fish or wildlife resources the project could substantially adversely affect include: <br /> saltmarsh harvest mouse, a species listed as Endangered under both the Endangered <br /> Species Act (ESA) and the California Endangered Species Act (CESA) and fully <br /> protected under FGC; saltmarsh common yellowthroat, designated as a Species of <br /> Special Concern; other migratory, foraging and nesting birds; bats; water quality; and <br /> temporary impacts to 950 linear feet of emergent vegetation. <br /> The adverse effects the project could have on the fish or wildlife resources identified <br /> ATTY/AGR/2016.286/CITY OF MENLO PARK - ATHERTON CHANNEL MAINTENANCE <br />
