8.3.B. - Page 62 <br /> 7.121.1 Temporary Duty Assignments <br /> The parties agree that temporary duty assignments are not intended to <br /> circumvent the normal promotion or appointment process. <br /> In the event a position is temporarily upgraded to a position or assignment not <br /> resulting from the absence of another employee on approved leave, and the <br /> temporary upgrade lasts for six(6)consecutive months or more,the City and the <br /> Association will meet to discuss the planned length of the temporary upgrade <br /> and the City plans to fill the position. <br /> Once the temporary duty assignment has ended, the employee shall return to <br /> his/her assignment from which he/she was temporarily assigned, unless the <br /> position no longer exists. If an employee currently serving in a Specialty <br /> position with a specified duration, (i.e. 3 years), is temporarily assigned to a <br /> different classification or assignment,the employee's time spent in that Specialty <br /> position shall toll until he/she returns from the temporary assignment. <br /> 7,132 Educational and Specialized Training Expense Reimbursement <br /> All employees shall be eligible for reimbursement of costs of tuition, registration, fees <br /> and books incurred in connection with enrollment in and successful completion of <br /> courses of instruction related to the member's position with the City or a higher position <br /> with the City, professional development workshops or seminars, post secondary courses <br /> offered at an accredited college or university, or P.O.S.T. approved courses. <br /> Each employee shall be eligible to receive reimbursement, not to exceed six hundred <br /> fifty dollars ($650.00) each fiscal year, provided that the course of instruction, workshop <br /> or seminar is approved in advance of enrollment by the Police Chief and the Personnel <br /> Officer, and the employee must successfully complete each course submitted for <br /> reimbursement with a grade of"C" or better, or a passing grade in a pass/fail course, or <br /> with receipt of a certificate of completion or letter certifying the awarding of C.E.U. <br /> un its. <br /> All employees shall be eligible to receive reimbursement, not to exceed three hundred <br /> dollars ($300.00) of the maximum six hundred fifty dollar ($650.00) tuition <br /> reimbursement fiscal year entitlement, for the purchase of reference materials listed in <br /> the core reference material appendix to this MOU. <br /> The Personnel Officer and the Police Chief may establish standards and criteria and <br /> enact such rules, regulations, procedures and policies as are necessary or appropriate to <br /> implement the provisions of this Section. <br /> 7.143 Vacations <br /> 7.143.1 The times during the calendar year at which an employee shall take vacation <br /> shall be determined by the Police Chief or designated representative with due <br /> regard to the wishes of the employee and particular regard to the need of the <br /> 16 <br />
