EXHIBIT "A" SCOPE OF SERVICES VISION & GOALS The applicant agency believes the proposed program is aligned with the mission and objectives of the Redwood City Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department (PRCS). SPACE The PRCS and school leadership staff has committed to provide this program the following space for the 2016-2017 school year: At Henry Ford, Hawes, Selby Lane, and John Gill School, America SCORES participants will conduct soccer enrichment at on-site school yards and a classroom space will be dedicated for poetry workshops. This school space will be provided at no cost to the agency. COMMUNICATION The PRCS leadership staff has committed to provide the following communication channels for the 2016- 2017 school year: A meeting with the Afterschool Program Site Coordinator lx a month. Meetings/communication with Program Leaders who serve as America SCORES coaches on a weekly basis. Invitation to afterschool program meetings, school site council & parent outreach meetings. On-going participation in SCORES coach trainings, meetings, events and general weekly communications. PROGRAMMATIC ALIGNMENT The PRCS leadership staff and the applicant agency will work to align the proposed programming with the school day in the following ways: Joint planning time for school day staff and afterschool staff. Inviting out of school time staff to school day staff planning meetings or professional development trainings. Aligning afterschool curricula and activities with California content standards. Enforcing consistent behavior guidelines during the school day and afterschool. Identifying students for the program (or for the needs-based scholarships, if applicable). Sharing pertinent, appropriate information about individual students with afterschool staff. Co-hosting parent/caregiver meetings or events. America SCORES Bay Area Program Description America SCORES inspires youth to lead healthy lives, be engaged students, and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world. America SCORES believes that all children deserve the opportunity to be part of a team, to play sports, to express themselves, and to give back to their communities. Through the universal appeal of soccer and poetry, and with the guidance of caring adult coaches, America SCORES "poet-athletes" play on a soccer team, write and share poetry, and complete meaningful service-learning projects. While learning and playing with their teammates, they laugh, smile, and grow; they discover the beauty of their individual voices and gain a sense of belonging to their team and school community.
