6.1.F. - Page 3
North Fair Oaks Safe Routes to School Coordinator. This partnership would
supplement existing one year funding sources from the San Mateo County Office of
Education's Safe Routes to School Program and Sequoia Healthcare District's Health
Schools Initiative.
The Redwood City 2020 Safe Routes to School Coordinator would continue to help
organize large encouragement events, such as International Walk to School Day and
Bike to School Day, which both celebrates and encourages walking and biking to school
in the Redwood City School District and North Fair Oaks community. The Coordinator
would also act as a liaison between law enforcement, traffic engineering, school
administrators, families, and other community stakeholders.
ALTERNATIVES
Council may elect not to authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for this program has been awarded to the County of San Mateo by the
California Transportation Commission and will cover the costs of this agreement. The
City is serving as fiscal agent or "pass through" to Redwood City 2020 for funds
awarded; therefore this Agreement will not impact the City's general fund.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under CEQA as defined in CEQA Guidelines, section
15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or foreseeable physical
change in the environment.
JANA KISER
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
MELISSA STEVENSON DIAZ
CITY MANAGER
ATTACHMENT
1. AGREEMENT
