6.1.F. - Page 3 <br />North Fair Oaks Safe Routes to School Coordinator. This partnership would <br />supplement existing one year funding sources from the San Mateo County Office of <br />Education's Safe Routes to School Program and Sequoia Healthcare District's Health <br />Schools Initiative. <br />The Redwood City 2020 Safe Routes to School Coordinator would continue to help <br />organize large encouragement events, such as International Walk to School Day and <br />Bike to School Day, which both celebrates and encourages walking and biking to school <br />in the Redwood City School District and North Fair Oaks community. The Coordinator <br />would also act as a liaison between law enforcement, traffic engineering, school <br />administrators, families, and other community stakeholders. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />Council may elect not to authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funding for this program has been awarded to the County of San Mateo by the <br />California Transportation Commission and will cover the costs of this agreement.
