6.3.A. - Page 153 AP -85 Other Actions — 91.220(k) Introduction: In addition to the specific actions stated in the Action Plan the City will undertake other actions as follows. Actions planned to address obstacles to meeting underserved needs The City will fund several activities that will address obstacles to meeting underserved needs including housing production and preservation, homeless shelters and supportive services, human services programs that meet basic human needs and economic development. Actions planned to foster and maintain affordable housing In addition to supporting housing production and preservation activities the City funds fair housing services that provides education and outreach, discrimination investigation and tenant landlord assistance. They City also continues to monitor its deed restricted affordable housing to ensure compliance with affordability terms. The City will also be studying a Community Benefits Program that would likely include affordable housing. This program would create a new tool to increase the resources the City could use for affordable housing development and preservation. Actions planned to reduce lead-based paint hazards The City will continue to provide funds through its single and multifamily housing rehabilitation programs to conduct lead based paint inspections and removal of lead based paint hazards. The City will continue to require testing and hazard removal in all CDBG and HOME funded housing activities. Actions planned to reduce the number of poverty -level families The City will continue to work with the Continuum of Care to implement their work plan to comply with the HEARTH act, including reducing the number of poverty level families. Additionally the City will fund InnVision Shelter Network's Redwood Family House to provide shelter, transitional housing and support services to help families become self-sufficient. Actions planned to develop institutional structure The City is a strong leader and participant in the development and ongoing support of various programs and initiatives constituting the delivery system.
