8.A. - Page 2
City's interest in the right-of-way, and the right-of-way will revert to the fee owner, who is
Butler Realty, LLC, the City of Redwood City, and the State of California. The sale of the
City owned property is intended to be done at the same time as the vacation. The
easement proposed for vacation is more particularly described in a legal description and
plat map attached to this report as exhibits to the proposed resolution.
A Resolution of Intention to vacate this portion of Bradford Street was adopted by this
Council on November 7, 2016. Public notification of this action was also ordered on that
date. Pursuant to the California Streets & Highway Code, Section 8320 et seq., the City
published and posted notice of this public hearing as required. Notices were published
in the Daily Journal on 11 /28/16, and 12/5/16. At least three notices were conspicuously
posted, no more than 300 feet apart, at the site of the proposed vacation. Additionally,
the City sent notices to owners of property within 300 feet of the proposed vacation and
owners of affected utilities.
ALTERNATIVES
Council may choose not to adopt a Resolution to vacate a portion of Hancock St,
Buckeye St, and Spruce St which would be contrary to the intent of the parties.
FISCAL IMPACT
This action will not impose any new financial responsibility to the City at this time.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
As the lead agency, City of Redwood City has determined that the actions proposed in
this reports do not constitute a project as defined by the California Environmental
Quality Act.
.LAMES O'CONNELL, PE
ASSOCIATE ENGINEER
AARON AKNIN, AICP
ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
