<br />Council thanked Marcie and Shelter Network for their fine work, and thanked <br />the Redwood City Housing and Human Concerns Committee and Councilman <br />Greenalch for his work as Chairman of the HHCC, for their leadership and <br />support of Shelter Network. <br /> <br />------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> <br />3. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />A. Geri Mayers, 2303 Broadway, Redwood City, praised the work of the Redwood <br />City Police Department citing its effectiveness over the years, <br />especially in the downtown area. Mrs. Mayers expressed concern that the <br />new police station is on the east side of Bayshore Highway and the <br />largest residential and commercial areas, including banks, are on the <br />west side. Mrs. Mayers asked that Council keep the current police <br />building as a substation and build a substation in Redwood Shores. <br /> <br />------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> <br />4. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> <br />5. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> <br />A. Site analysis for a Downtown Parking Structure - PUBLIC HEARING was opened, <br />testimony received, and Hearing was closed on November 4, 1991. Further <br />Council discussion and consideration was continued to this night's Meeting. <br />(203-01). Affidavits of Mailing and Publication are on file in the City <br />Clerk Department. <br />Councilman Murray again did not participate in the discussion and abstained <br />from voting due to a possible conflict of interest. <br /> <br />REPORT: <br /> <br />Planning Director, November 12, 1991 <br /> <br />Staff recommended Alternative No.3 for new Downtown Parking Structure <br /> <br />In response to Council questions, Planning Director Patterson described <br />provisions for First Interstate Bank parking during construction with 36 <br />minute meters and bagged meters, and the parking arrangement in the Use <br />Permit. Planning Director Patterson assured Council that First Interstate <br />is not against the new garage, and that the concerns raised by Mr. Russ <br />Young of First Interstate Bank would be addressed during negotiations, if <br />the Council approved Alternative 3.
