Staff reported this property has been sold for the
Safeway Store development and owner must sell his stock. Inventory and deposits
reported having been received and applicant is requesting a sixty day sale period,
from July 16th to September 16th. Councilman Granger stated his policy* for opposing
sale permits longer than thirty days. City Manager recommended permit be granted
for requested sixty day period in view of the size of the inventory and his feeling
a rushed sale would result in hardship for the valuable items of specialized nursery
stock which would take more than usual time to dispose of.
Mr. Hans Jacobsen stated his parents had started this
business some 27 years ago and it was not their intent
to run a "gimmick" sale.
Councilman Henderson moved to grant Jacobsen's Nursery sixty (60) day closing out
sale, as requested, from July 16th to September 16th, seconded by Councilman Peter-
sen and carried on roll call vote, Councilman Granger voting no, Councilman Bury
being noted absent.
