2j
DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO CALL FOR BIDS THEREFORE, seconded by Councilman Rosselli
and carried on roll call vote.
Dedication Ceremonies, Multi -Purpose Building. City Manager reported it was impossible
to set a date for the ceremonies at present time as recent inclument weather had de-
layed the completion of the building. As requested by the Council, City Manager
reported he had discussed the request of Park and Recreation Commission for authoriza-
tion to conduct the dedication ceremonies with Secretary of the Commission and had
been assured that it was Commission's desire to assist in the dedication proce-
dures by working with the Park and Recreation Departments' staff in setting up
mechanics of program and the speakers. He recommended that dedication plan proceed
on this basis and stated he had requested the program proposed be submitted for
approval. He further recommended dedication ceremonies not take place until build-
ing ready for occupancy with furnishings installed completely.
Mrs. Thompson, Secretary of the Commission stated her approval
of City Manager's report.
Councilman Rosselli moved to accept recommendation of City Manager concerning
dedication ceremonies of Multi -Purpose Building, seconded by Councilman Henderson
and carried. (MINUTE ORDER #66-262)
Councilman Keckley moved to adopt ORDINANCE NO. 1130.67 ADDING SECTION 60.1.10 TO
ORDINANCE NO. 1130, THE REDWOOD CITY ZONING ORDINANCE, PREZONING A PORTION OF
BLOCK 502, HIGHLANDS OF EMERALD LAKE #5, BEING THE AREA ALONG NAVAJO COURT AND
THE EASTERLY TERMINUS OF LAKEVIEW WAY TO RH-12 (Wm. R. Barnett) seconded by
Councilman Bury and carried on roll call vote.
Request for closing out sale Permit, G. A. Dolan, dba Nita's, 2652 Broadway presented
for consideration. Staff report stated lease at these premises had expired March
1, 1965, and partnership is being dissolved, with Mr. Clark, one of the partners,
having opened a new store at 2209 Broadway, Sequoia Stationers. Applicant
requested closing out sale from December 27th and expiring January 31st, 1967.
Required deposit and fees have been received and inventory received and checked.
Staff recommended 30 day sale period. Councilman Granger moved application be
granted for Closing Out Sale Permit, not to exceed 30 days, seconded by Council-
man Rosselli. On question, Councilman Bury expressed his opinion that this request
didn't follow intent of Ordinance to permit opportunity to liquidate stock, since
this sale involved moving to new location of establishing a different character
of the business. Based on this statement, original motion withdrawn by maker and
second. Councilman Bury moved to deny the application.
Mr. Dolan further explained their request for closing out
sale being made in attempt to dissolve their partnership
at these premises and difficulties to separate stock unless
sale permitted. He admitted similar type of stock was handled
at new premises, but that he did not carry any similar stock
at his premises on Veterans Blvd., dba Peninsula Office Supply.
Councilman Henderson questioned type of sale held at premises of Peninsula Office
Supply before their moving to new site and why similar type could not be conducted
now, indicating her support of Councilman Bury's opinion in this instance.
