<br />Redwood City Council
<br />September 25, 1967 7:30 P. M.
<br />Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilman Henderson.
<br />Invocation led by Reverend Clifton Wiehe, Messiah Lutheran Church.
<br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Robert H. Bury, Floyd D.
<br />Granger, Mary W. Henderson, Paul C. Keckley, John S. Rosselli Mayor Sidney D.
<br />Herkner, and City Clerk Helen C. Moore. Councilman Herbert G. Petersen entered the
<br />meeting at 7:35 p.m. Also noted present were City Manager Howard C. Ullrich, City
<br />Attorneir Richard E. Gardella, Assistant City Manager Henry V. Burget, Police Chief
<br />William Faulstich, Director of Public Works J. Louis Scherer, Planning Director
<br />Ken Schroeter, Auditor -Accountant Jack Ference, Park Supeririendent Pasco Balzarini,
<br />and Deputy City Clerk Marian McCrindle.
<br />Councilman Keckley moved to approve Minutes of Regular Meeting of September 18, 1967,
<br />as mailed, seconded by Councilman Rosselli and carried.
<br />Councilman Keckley moved to approve Minutes Adjourned Regular Meeting (City Managerts
<br />office - 8:00 a.m.) of September 20, 1967, as mailed, seconded by Councilman Burt„*
<br />and carried.
<br />Park Superintendent presented a check in the amount of $1,119.00 representing cash
<br />awards received by the City Park Department for entries which had been submitted on
<br />behalf of the City in the San Mateo County Fair and Fiesta flower show. He reported
<br />that out of eight entries submitted, cash awards had been �_i_ven to all, either
<br />attaining first or second place, one only being given a third place. Mayor Herk-
<br />ner, on behalf of Council, accepted check and commended Park Department person-
<br />nel on their fine achievement.
<br />BID OPENING, Laurel Wad* Improvement District. The following bids were received and
<br />opened:
<br />Douglass R- Woodhouse 119,906.70
<br />0. C. Jones & Sons 19,458.05
<br />Engineer's Estimate $20,000
<br />Councilman Rosselli moved to refer bids to Attorney for the District and City
<br />Engineer for checking and report back at the public hearing, seconded by Coun-
<br />cilman Keckley and carried.
<br />Application of Leslie Properties, Inc., for exception to the Subdivision Ordinance to
<br />allow that Lots 17, 23, 38, and 44 of Block B, have a street frontage of 40 feet
<br />instead of the required 50 feet, and that Lot 12 of Block E have a lot area of
<br />approximately 6,400 square feet instead of the required five -acres minimum in the
<br />"TP" District, presented for consideration.
<br />Planning Commission report was read in which it was reported Commission considered
<br />the application of Leslie Properties, Inc., for a tentative map approval of a 65 -acre
<br />parcel of land into 163 lots, located on Redwood Peninsula, and referred to as Redwood
<br />Shores Unit No. 1 on September 12, 1967, at which hearing no protests had been received.
<br />It was reported specific lots were described with proposed street frontages of only —
<br />40 feet because of their location at the corners of right angle streets, besides
<br />one of the lots presently* in a "TP" District being proposed for a 6,400 square
<br />foot area instead of the required five -acre minimum in this District, for which an
