Motion carried on roll call vote, Councilman Rosselli being noted <br />absent. <br />Councilman Keckley moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5609 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING <br />EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT FOR CONSULTING SERVICES (URBAN DESIGN) GENERAL IMPROVE- <br />MENT DISTRICT 1-64, REDWOOD CITY, seconded by Councilman Bury. City Manager's <br />report submitted to Council explained consulting services for urban design had <br />been requested by the Urban Design Committee and recommendation was being made <br />for Michael McDougall being retained for the purpose of designing the various <br />articles of "street furniture", including, but not limited to, street signs, <br />directional and informational signs, pavilions and benches within landscaped <br />areas, bus shelters and stops, planting boxes, etc., all providing drawings <br />and perspective sketches explained by text, to be incorporated in a Redwood <br />Shores Design Manual. Maximum compensation under proposed agreement reported <br />not to exceed $4,500, at rate of $15.00 per hour, and services to be made <br />available to Urban Design Committee only upon request to the City Manager. <br />Funding for services reported available in Fund 11, Streets and Highways <br />(Measure B) GID 1-64, Bonds. <br />City Manager also advised final planning would be submitted to Council for <br />approval when request for authorization to call for bids on such designed <br />"street furniture"is ready. In reply to questioning whether any of designed <br />"street furniture" would be available to the rest of the City, such as needed <br />benches on various streets, etc., City Manager advised anything designed by <br />consultant would belong to the City. Motion carried on roll call vote, <br />Councilman Rosselli being noted absent. <br />Councilman Granger moved to authorize City Manager to attend the California State <br />Highway Commission meeting to be held in Riverside, February 15,1968, seconded <br />by Councilman Bury. City Manager advised he had been requested to appear at <br />this hearing to hear their reconsideration of the Ralston Interchange funding. <br />Motion carried (MINUTED ORDER #68-47) <br />Councilman Keckley moved to introduce Ordinance appropriating sum of $7,500 from <br />unappropriated balance of Reserve for Contingencies of General Fund to provide <br />for payments of Transient Occupancy Tax to County of San Mateo, seconded by <br />Councilman Petersen. <br />Staff questioned as to retroactive feature of taxes due to County under agree- <br />ment, and amounts collected so far under this tax. City Manager reviewed <br />Councilts commitment to the County having been made sometime before the actual <br />agreement was executed. City Clerk advised a total of $17,560.99 had been <br />collected for the first two quarters of this fiscal year, 25% of toal being due <br />County as per agreement, or sum of $4,390.25.
