SCOPE OF SERVICES
A. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The City of Redwood City (City) seeks to improve the concrete lined sections of Redwood
Creek in connection with the 2017 Redwood Creek Improvement Project. Over time, some
sections of concrete lined channels and box culverts developed deficiencies such as cracking,
spalling, exposed, damaged and/or corroded reinforcing steel, joint filler deterioration,
horizontal/vertical joint displacements, and wall rotations. The City would like to repair and
rehabilitate these concrete structures to improve their conditions. As a result, the City
obtained permits from the US Army Corps of Engineers, California Regional Water Quality
Control Board, and California Department of Fish and Wildlife to work on the improved
portions of Redwood Creek.
B. SCOPE OF WORK
In 2016, the City contracted with BKF Engineers for the engineering and construction services
to address deficiencies identified in two selected reaches of the Redwood Creek in connection
with the 2016 Redwood Creek Repair and Rehabilitation Project. The selected reaches are as
follows:
Jefferson Branch Reach 1 — Redwood Creek Jefferson Branch from Hudson Street to
Madison Avenue (approximately 300 linear feet).
Redwood Branch Reach 1 — Redwood Creek Redwood Branch from Broadway Street to
Maple Street (approximately 1400 linear feet).
The City is currently contracting with Wood Rodgers, Inc. for the engineering and construction
services to address deficiencies identified in two selected reaches of the Redwood Creek in
connection with the 2017 Redwood Creek Improvement Project. The selected reaches are as
follows:
Jefferson Branch Reach 2 — Redwood Creek Jefferson Branch from Clinton Street and EI
Camino Real (approximately 1000 linear feet).
Redwood Branch Reach 2 — Redwood Creek Redwood Branch from Hudson Street to Oak
Street (approximately 1500 linear feet).
Please note the designs for Jefferson Branch Reach 2 and Redwood Branch Reach 2 have
not been completed and that the scope of design and construction work for the 2017
Redwood Creek Improvement Project may change.
This project involves the permit compliance support services for the 2016 Redwood Creek
Repair and Rehabilitation Project and the 2017 Redwood Creek Improvement Project by a
qualified engineering firm. Permits include, but are not limited to, California Department of
Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) Streambed Alteration Agreement dated August 24, 2015, U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) NWP-3 Maintenance authorization dated October 23,
2015 (File No. 2014-00340S), and Regional Water Quality Control Board Water Quality
Certification dated October B, 2015.
Please see map below showing the project reaches as described above
REV: 12-08-16 RL
PROJECT LOCATION MAP
ATTYIAGR.2016.327/Huffman-Broadway Group, Inc.
