There are no historic
structures located on or adjacent to the project site that would be affected by the proposed project.
(No Impact)
4.5.3.2 Impacts to Archaeological and Paleontological Resources and Human Remains
(Checklist Questions 2 — 4)
Prior to development in the 1990s, the project site was undeveloped land that was reclaimed from the
San Francisco Bay (i.e., landfill). Therefore, the soil on the project site has been previously disturbed
and will not disturb native soil. For this reason, it is very unlikely that archaeological or
paleontological resources would be uncovered during construction of the proposed project. The
mitigation measures listed below would be implemented in the unlikely event that cultural resources
or human remains are uncovered during construction of the proposed project.
Impact CUL -1: Construction of the proposed project could result in significant impacts to
buried cultural resource. (Significant Impact)
Mitization Measures: The following measures would be implemented in the unlikely event that
cultural resources or human remains are uncovered during construction of the proposed project:
MM CUL -1: In the event that cultural resources are found, all work within 50 feet of the
find will stop and a qualified professional archaeologist or paleontologist will
examine the find. If the find is determined to be significant, treatment
recon n:>,endations will be developed and implemented before earthmoving or
construction activities can recommence within the designated resource area.
MM CUL -2: In compliance with state law (Section 7050.5 of the Health and Safety Code
and Section 5097.94 of the Public Resources Code), in the event that human
City of Redwood City 36 Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration
Sandpiper Elementary School Facilities Expansion November 2016
