He has completed CalPERS-related analyses for the City of Redwood <br />City in the past, and his experience with Redwood City and expertise in this field would <br />allow both portions of the recommended work to be completed more quickly than would <br />be the case if a request for proposals were sought. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />1) The City Council may choose to proceed with the OPEB valuation, but not <br />proceed with the CalPERS rate analysis at this time. <br />2) The City Council could choose to proceed with the CalPERS rate analysis and <br />enter into a contract with a different consultant for the OPEB valuation. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Approval of the OPEB valuation contract will have an impact of up to $25,000. <br />Appropriations in the Fiscal Year 2016-17 budget are sufficient to cover the proposed <br />cost of these services. Approval of the CalPERS rate analysis will have an impact of up <br />to $9,000. Appropriations in the Fiscal Year 2016-17 budget are sufficient to cover the <br />proposed cost of these services.
