7.C. - Page 1 <br />REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />January 9, 2017 <br />SUBJECT <br />An Ordinance adopting by reference the California Fire Code, 2016 edition; An <br />Ordinance adopting by reference the 2016 California Building, Residential, Electrical, <br />Mechanical, Plumbing, Historical Building, Energy, Green Building Standards <br />Codes, together with certain amendments, exceptions, modifications and additions <br />thereto, and the 2015 International Existing, Property Maintenance Codes, and the 2015 <br />Uniform Plumbing, Mechanical Codes; and An Ordinance amending Sections 9.7 and <br />9.15 of Chapter 9 of the Redwood City Municipal Code <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Hold Public Hearing and receive public comment; <br />Waive second reading and adopt an Ordinance Repealing Article II of Chapter 12 and <br />adopting a new Article II of Chapter 12 adopting by reference the California Fire Code <br />2016 with local amendments; <br />Waive second reading and adopt an Ordinance of the City of Redwood City repealing <br />Articles IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX and X of Chapter 9 of the Redwood City Municipal Code <br />and adopting new Articles IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX and X of Chapter 9 of the Redwood <br />City Municipal Code adopting by reference Title 24, parts 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 and <br />11 of the California Code of Regulations, namely the 2016 California Building, <br />Residential, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Energy, Historical Building, Existing <br />Building, Green Building Standards Codes, 2015 International Existing Building, <br />Property Maintenance, Uniform Plumbing and Uniform Mechanical Codes, together with <br />certain amendments, exceptions, modifications and additions, thereto; and <br />Waive second reading and adopt an Ordinance amending Sections 9.7 and 9.15 of <br />Chapter 9 of the Redwood City Municipal Code; and <br />Review and Consider the Statement of Exemption determination under CEQA. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City last updated its Building and Fire Codes in 2013. New state codes become <br />effective on January 1, 2017 and are applicable to the City whether adopted by the City <br />
