The Planning Division shall approve all materials and designs for driveways. <br />Under habitable rooms of Groups R occupancies, a vapor barrier approved by the <br />Building Official shall be installed beneath the concrete slab floor. Single -ply plastic <br />vapor barriers shall not be used. An approved base material of suitable <br />consistency, compaction, and thickness shall be provided directly under the <br />concrete slab vapor barrier to retard capillary action. Two (2) inches of sand shall <br />be provided between the vapor barrier and the concrete slab. The top of the <br />concrete floor slab shall be a minimum six (6) inches above exterior finished grade. <br />Sec. 9.65. SECTION R506.1 OF THE RESIDENTIAL CODE AMENDED: Section R506 of <br />the Residential Code is amended to add a new Section R506.1.1 to read as follows: <br />R506.1.1 Concrete slab floors. Concrete slab floors, garage slabs, and driveways <br />shall have a minimum thickness of three and one-half (3 1/2) inches and shall be <br />reinforced with a minimum six (6) inch by six (6) inch by six (6) gauge welded wire <br />fabric or equivalent area of reinforcing. Welded wire fabric manufactured in mats <br />shall be used. All reinforcement shall be appropriately supported in order to keep <br />the reinforcement in the mid -depth of the slab until the completion of the concrete <br />pour. <br />Under habitable rooms of Groups R occupancies, a vapor barrier approved by the <br />Building Official shall be installed beneath the concrete slab floor. TABLE 2308.5.11, GYPSUM SHEATHING IN THE TABLE OF THE <br />BUILDING CODE AMENDED: Table 2308.5.11, Line 5 is amended to read as follows: <br />Gypsum sheathing shall not be considered for a braced wall panel. <br />Sec. 9.67. SECTION R602.10.4 OF THE RESIDENTIAL CODE AMENDED: Section <br />R602.10.4 is amended to add a new section R602.10.4.4 to read as follows: <br />R602.10.4.4. Limits on methods GB and PCP. In Seismic Design Categories D0, <br />D1, and D2, Method GB is not permitted for use as intermittent braced wall panels, <br />but gypsum board is permitted to be installed when required by this Section to be <br />placed on the opposite side of the studs from other types of braced wall panel <br />sheathing. In Seismic Design Categories D0, D1, and D2, the use of Method PCP <br />is limited to one-story single family dwellings and accessory structures. <br />Sec. 9.68. ADOPTION OF APPENDICES F, I, AND J.
