ATTY/RESO.0007/CC RESO ADOPTING CEQA FOR SANDPIPER SCHOOL <br />REV: 01-18-17 JS <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY ADOPTING A MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION AND A <br />MITIGATION MONITORING AND REPORTING PLAN FOR NEW JOINT- <br />USE SANDPIPER SCHOOL CLASSROOM BUILDING <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Applicant, Belmont-Redwood Shores School District, (a) seeks to <br />construct new classroom buildings serving 220 students for Sandpiper School on City <br />owned property at 797 Redwood Shores Parkway, including one classroom on City <br />owned property; (b) has requested that City enter an amended Joint Use Agreement; and <br />(c) has applied for a General Plan Amendment to construct such buildings (collectively, <br />the “Project”); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the requirements of the California Environmental Quality <br />Act (Public Resources Code Section 21000 et seq.; hereafter, “CEQA”) and the <br />Guidelines for Implementation of the California Environmental Quality Act (Title 14, <br />Sections 15000 et seq. of the California Code of Regulations; hereafter, the “CEQA <br />Guidelines”), the City prepared an Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration to assess <br />potential environmental impacts that could result from implementation of the proposed <br />Project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration concluded that the <br />Project, with the proposed mitigation measures contained in the Initial Study/Mitigated <br />Negative Declaration and associated Mitigation Monitoring Reporting Program, would not <br />have a significant adverse effect on the environment; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City prepared a separate Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting <br />Program (MMRP) for the Project, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with CEQA Guidelines Sections 15072 and 15073, a <br />Notice of Intent to adopt the Mitigated Negative Declaration was filed with the County <br />Clerk, sent to the State Office of Planning and Research, advertised in the newspaper, <br />and mailed to property owners and occupants within 300 feet of the subject site to inform <br />the public of the 30-day public review and comment period; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration was published for <br />public review and comment beginning November 4, 2016 and ending December 6, 2016; <br />and <br /> <br />7.A. - Page 12
