Section 4.0 – Environmental Setting and Discussion of Impacts <br /> <br /> <br />City of Redwood City 51 Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration <br />Sandpiper Elementary School Facilities Expansion November 2016 <br />Government Code Section 65962.5 <br /> <br />The project site is not included on any list compiled pursuant to Section 65962.5 of the Government <br />Code (Cortese List).18 <br /> <br />4.8.1.5 Off-Site Sources of Contamination <br /> <br />As part of the Phase I ESA, a search of applicable regulatory databases was completed to identify <br />properties with documented environmental releases and/or those that use, store, or dispose of <br />regulated chemicals. <br /> <br />The project site is not listed on any databases. No off-site spill incidents have been reported that <br />would impact the soil, soil vapor, or ground water beneath the project site or would otherwise be <br />likely to impact the project site. This determination is based on the types of incidents, and the <br />locations of the reported incidents in relation to the project site and the assumed ground water flow <br />direction (down- or cross-gradient). <br /> <br />4.8.1.6 Airports <br /> <br />The project site is located approximately 1.75 miles northeast of the San Carlos Airport. The site is <br />not located within a San Carlos Airport Safety Zone. 19 There are no other public or private airports <br />located near the site. <br /> <br />4.8.1.7 Hazardous Material Use and Emissions within One-quarter Mile <br /> <br />The project site is located in a residential neighborhood. All uses within one-quarter mile of the site <br />are residential. There are no permitted uses within one-quarter mile of the site that emit hazardous <br />emissions or handle hazardous or acutely hazardous materials, substances, or waste. <br /> <br />4.8.1.8 Emergency Response and Evacuation Plans <br /> <br />Sandpiper Community Center and Sandpiper School are located on the project site. Local <br />community centers and schools often provide shelter in the event of an emergency such as an <br />earthquake.
