Recommendation <br /> Waive first reading and introduce an Ordinance amending <br /> Section 2.27.6 of the Redwood City Municipal Code regarding <br /> General Municipal Elections. Two ordinances to adhere to <br /> Senate Bill (SB) 415 are provided for City Council consideration: <br /> • Option A: Move to even year elections by extending the <br /> terms of each existing Council member by an additional 12 <br /> months, moving the November 2017 election to November <br /> 2018, and the November 2019 election to November 2020. <br /> This would result in all even year elections by 2020 <br /> • Option B: Move to even year elections by holding an election <br /> in 2017 for a five-year City Councilmember term, and <br /> holding an election in 2019 for a five-year City <br /> Councilmember term, with subsequent elections being for <br /> four year terms.
