Fti 71j-, , SCOPE OF SERVICES FOR WORKSHOPS: Safe Moves will conduct at least 14 workshops for children and youth in grades 3rd — 8th These workshops will be conducted in a game show format called Traffic Jeopardy with the safety instructor as the game show host. This program component will engage the students in active leaming by challenging their critical thinking skills. Traffic Jeopardy will cover traffic safety and environmental consequences of traffic congestion and pollution. The lesson plans for bicycle, pedestrian, vehicle passenger and transit passenger will be designed to be grade and age appropriate. All lesson plans will incorporate details about the infrastructure in and around the school community and be sensitive to diverse student populations. The following skills will be taught: Pedestrian Safety: • Explanation of safe places to walk • Walking in traffic (no sidewalk present) • Crossing streets safely • Crossing intersections safely • Parking lot safety • Choosing a route to school/destinations • Recognition of traffic signs & signals • Recognizing basic traffic hazards • Driver behaviors • Avoidance of common causes of collisions • Explanation of infrastructure • Explanation of traffic laws/city ordinances • Explanation of school traffic policies • Explanation of dangers Bicycle Safety: • Explanation of safe places to bicycle (sidewalk, bike lanes, paths) • Bicycling in traffic • Crossing streets safely • Crossing intersections safely • Parking lot safety • Choosing a route to school/destinations • Bicycling with friends • Recognition of traffic signs & signals • Driveway awareness • Recognizing basic traffic hazards • Driver behaviors • Avoidance of common causes of collisions • Explanation of infrastructure • Explanation of traffic laws/city ordinances Page 10 of 11 REV: 01.17-17 RL ATTY/AGR.2017.007/RWC2020 SRTS Safe Moves FY2016 2017
