Espy, 167 Bonita Avenue, Redwood City distributed a business license <br />tax proposal he designed after attending the March 3, 1990 Mid -Year Budget Review <br />Session. Mayor Greenalch referred this matter to staff for review. <br />MEMO 3/6/90 <br />--------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br />2a. Mayor Greenalch welcomed the visiting students from Woodside High School. <br />2b. Leo Crawford, 356 Topaz Street, Redwood City thanked the Council for support <br />of American legion and Peninsula Times Tribune Citizen of the Year Award and <br />presented Paul Uccelli, the winner of the 1989 Citizen of the Year Award, <br />its fiftieth recipient. <br />2c. Mayor Greenalch presented Resolution Nos. 11228 and 11229 honoring the <br />American Legion Post 105 and the Peninsula Times Tribune for their community <br />support through the years. <br />2d. Vice Mayor LaBerge presented Resolution No. 11230 to Jean Cloud, recognizing <br />her leadership roles in education and community service. <br />2e. Global Cities Project participation (continued from February 26, 1990) <br />Carolyn Nobles, 3720 Country Club Drive, Redwood City spoke in favor of <br />Global Cities Project and described events and projects taking place in <br />April in honor of Earth Day. <br />Mayor Greenalch announced Ralph and Carolyn Nobles would be asked to <br />represent Redwood City at the March 9, 1990 Global Cities Project Seminar <br />and City Manager Smith would appoint our other representative from our <br />Community Development Department. <br />M /S: La Berge /Buchan to recommend that the City of Redwood City <br />participate in Global Project and pay a membership fee of $1,000 <br />Carried by unanimous voice vote. <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 90 -026 <br />2f. Mayor Greenalch presented Proclamation to Carolyn Nobles proclaiming <br />April 22, 1990 Earth Day in Redwood City. <br />2g. Mayor Greenalch reminded Council and staff of the Sheriff's Facilities <br />Master Plan Meeting on March 8, 1990 at 6:00 p.m., 225 W. 37th Avenue to <br />discuss planning for new jail facilities.
