The following information will be obtained at each core location:
a. Wall height
b. Wall thickness
c. Channel width
d. Rebar spacing in the channel walls
e. Angle of wall deflection using a digital level
f. Height of core above the channel invert
g. Approximate channel stationing of the core sample
Contractor shall be responsible for backfilling the core holes and sawcut void with a material
that is acceptable to the City.
TASK 2 — LABORATORY TESTING
The core and rebar samples obtained from Task 1 shall be taken to the Contractor's laboratory or
sent out to another testing laboratory to complete the following tests:
1. ASTM C39 (Standard Test Method for Compressive Strength of Cylindrical
Concrete Specimens) for concrete compressive strength on concrete core samples
without reinforcing steel
2. ASTM A370 (Standard Test Method and Definitions for Mechanical Testing of
Steel Products) for reinforcing steel tensile properties on the vertical rebar sample
3. Visual observation and photographing of reinforcing steel corrosion and
measurement of diameter using a caliper on concrete core samples with
reinforcing steel
Deliverables:
Written memo summarizing the testing work completed as well as field observations
and results of laboratory testing.
REV: 02-10-17 PR
ATTY/AGR.2017.034/Cal Engineering & Geology, Inc.
