Caution Tag: A red colored metal or plastic tag of at least 1 x 1-3/4 inches in size <br />with the words, "CAUTION, BROMADIOLONE, RAT BAIT' shall be used with each <br />bait block to identify the bait. <br />C. Concrete Nails: Where necessary, concrete type nails, one and one-half (1-1/2) <br />inches or longer, shall be used, one (1) per manhole, for securing the tie -wire. The <br />existing nail in the manhole may be utilized for securing new bait provided it is <br />firmly attached to the manhole and is in serviceable condition. It is preferable to <br />secure the tie -wire to the uppermost manhole rung when it is accessible. <br />D. Tie -Wire: Sixteen and one-half (16.5) gauge plastic coated solid core copper wire <br />of the type used by electricians shall be used to secure bait blocks. No other wire <br />is approved for use. <br />E. Paint: Yellow, violet, white, and red enamel paint in aerosol containers will be <br />required to mark the back surface of the Caution Tag. Blue enamel paint will be <br />required if the Contractor is informed that his/her work must be redone. <br />F. Marking Removal and Replacement of Covers: A yellow colored dot, <br />approximately one and one-half (1-1/2) inches in diameter, painted with a durable <br />enamel paint, shall be maintained by the Contractor on the center of each manhole <br />inspected under this contract to assist the Contractor and SMCMVCD staff in <br />locating treated manholes. Yellow paint must be applied to the manhole cover <br />during each scheduled inspection. <br />Prior to the removal of each manhole cover, the cover and the cover frame shall <br />be marked in chalk or crayon, or some other suitable material to assist the <br />Contractor in returning the cover to its original position after the inspection has <br />been made. In addition, the Contractor is required to remove all pebbles and sand <br />which have collected under the rim of the manhole thereby lessening the possibility <br />of the manhole cover rattling. <br />Bait in manholes with tight fitting covers must also be serviced unless prior <br />authorization is obtained from City or SMCMVCD to relocate the bait to another <br />manhole at no additional cost to the City. <br />REV: 01-23-20 EI <br />
