<br />29 <br /> <br />preceding a paid holiday, or the commencement of a vacation, or the commencement of a paid <br />sick leave period, as the case may be, the night shift premium shall be included in such worker's <br />holiday pay, vacation pay or paid sick leave. <br /> <br />16.3.3 Workers assigned to regular rotation schedules which qualify for shift differential as defined in <br />Section 16.3.1 above, shall have such differential included in their holiday pay, vacation pay, or <br />paid sick leave, beginning on the first day of such assignment. <br /> <br />16.4 Standby Duty <br /> <br />Workers assigned to standby duty shall, at their option, either be paid three (3) hours straight-time pay or <br />receive three (3) hours of straight time compensatory time for each day they are on standby duty. <br /> <br />For weekend standby duty, a day shall be considered a 24-hour period for assignments beginning at what <br />would be the worker’ regularly scheduled start time on a scheduled workday and ending 24 hours later. For <br />weekday standby duty, a day shall be considered the period between the end of the worker’s regularly <br />scheduled shift and the beginning of a new workday or standby shift the following morning. <br /> <br />16.5 Call-Back <br /> <br />Workers who are called back after leaving work at the end of the normal working day shall be credited with <br />no less than two (2) hours at the overtime rate. <br /> <br />16.6 Call Out in Parks Department <br /> <br />The opportunity for call-outs in the Parks Department shall be equitably distributed and rotated by <br />management among the members of the work unit qualified under standards set in Title 8 California <br />Administrative Code Sections 3420 et seq. (Article 12). <br /> <br />16.7 Work Schedule <br /> <br />All work schedule arrangements presently in effect shall continue. If the City proposes to change the work <br />schedule of a classification, the Union shall be notified at least ten (10) working days in advance of the <br />proposed change and given an opportunity to meet and confer regarding the impact of any proposed <br />change in hours or days of work prior to implementation. <br /> <br />16.8 Rest Periods after Extended Shift <br /> <br />16.8.1 A worker who works more than fourteen (14) hours during a twenty-four (24) hour period, starting <br />at the beginning of the worker’s regularly scheduled start time, shall be entitled to receive a ten <br />(10) hour rest period before returning to duty. Such rest period shall commence when the worker <br />goes off duty. <br /> <br />16.8.2 Should the ten (10) hour rest period extend beyond the starting time of the worker's regular shift, <br />the worker shall be required to work only the remainder of that shift but shall be compensated as <br />though he/she had worked the entire shift. <br /> <br />16.8.3 Should a worker who has worked more than fourteen (14) hours in a twenty-four (24) hour period <br />be required to return to duty prior to completion of the ten (10) hour rest period, that worker shall be <br />compensated at one and one-half (1-1/2) times his/her regular rate of pay for the time remaining in <br />6.3.B. - Page 39
