JOB DESCRIPTION <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />CHILD CARE SERVICES SPECIALIST <br />DEFINITION <br />2/27/2017 <br />To serve as a City resource on child care and early education programs to the <br />local community including child care providers, parents, City staff, local <br />businesses, and community based organizations; to promote and facilitate high <br />quality and accessible child care; and to perform related work as assigned. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br />This single incumbent classification provides professional level support to the <br />City's goals and objectives with respect to the provision of high quality and <br />accessible child care and early education services to its citizens. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br />Direction is provided by management staff. <br />EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL AND IMPORTANT DUTIES <br />1. Receive requests for information and technical assistance from child care and <br />early education agencies, other community public and private <br />organizations, City Departments, and City Council, the media and <br />community organizations; research and respond to specific issues raised by <br />these groups. <br />2. Receive requests for information from parents and caregivers for referrals to <br />available resources for child care, early education and family resources in the <br />community; provide written resource materials as available. <br />3. Conduct research to identify and provide information to the child <br />care/early education community on newly available resources such as <br />training, funding, events, and legislation. <br />4. Provide assistance to community agencies and child care providers in their <br />efforts to start a new child care program, where there is a need to access or <br />secure funding resources; provide information on public and private and <br />public funding opportunities; interpret regulations; facilitate grant applications <br />and provide other logistical assistance. <br />5. Work with other City Departments such as Community Development, <br />Planning and the Library, on projects related to child care and early <br />education; projects may include permitting, new developments, and <br />services to children and families. <br />ATTY/RE50.0016/CC RESO AMENDING CLASSIFICATION & SALARY PLAN FOR SEIU RESO.
