The provisions of this section do not apply to building and foundation <br /> systems in those areas subject to scour and water pressure by wind and wave <br /> action. Buildings and foundations subject to such loads shall be designed in <br /> accordance with approved national standards." <br /> "Section 9.45. Section 1924 of the Building Code is hereby amended to <br /> read as follows: <br /> "Section 1924.1 Concrete Slabs on Grade. This section shall apply to <br /> concrete slabs on grade in construction related to Groups R-1, R-3, and M <br /> occupancies only. <br /> "Section 1924.1.1. Concrete slab floors, garage slabs, and driveways <br /> shall have a minimum thickness of three and one-half (3 1/2) inches and shall be <br /> reinforced with a minimum six (6) inch by six (6) inch by six (6) gauge welded <br /> wire fabric or equivalent area of reinforcing. Welded wire fabric manufactured in <br /> mats shall be used. All reinforcement shall be appropriately supported in order <br /> to keep the reinforcement in the mid-depth of the slab until the completion of the <br /> concrete pour. <br /> "Section 1924.1.2. Under habitable rooms of Groups R-1 and R-3 <br /> occupancies, a vapor barrier approved by the Building Official shall be installed <br /> beneath the concrete slab floor. Single-ply plastic vapor barriers shall not be <br /> used. An approved base material of suitable consistency, compaction, and <br /> thickness shall be provided directly under the concrete slab vapor barrier to <br /> ORD-001 4 <br /> FXS:rg <br /> 10/23/95 <br /> 11/13/95R <br />
