ATTY/RESO.0028/CC RESO APPROVE THE INSTALLATION OF STOP SIGNS – EBENER STREET
REV: 03-17-17 PR
RESOLUTION NO. ______

RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY
AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF STOP SIGNS ON REDWOOD
AVENUE AT ITS INTERSECTION WITH EBENER STREET

WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City Policy and Guidelines for Stop Signs on
Residential Streets states:
The use of all-way stop signs should be considered at locations where the following
conditions exist:
• When the busier street carries between 1000 and 4000 vehicles/day and the minor
street carries over 900 vehicles per day
• When 3 or more accidents of types correctable by all-way stop control have
occurred at the intersection within a recent 12-month period
and
• An engineering study performed to evaluate conformance to these warrants has
determined no alternative measures are more appropriate to address the
identified traffic concerns, and that installation of all-way stops is compatible with
the overall traffic considerations for the area.
WHEREAS, City staff’s investigation has confirmed the existence of these
conditions at the subject site.
WHEREAS, as the lead agency, the City has determined that the proposed project
qualifies for a categorical exemption as a minor alteration to an existing facility under
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines Section 15301.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS:
1. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 20.34 of the Redwood City Code, the
City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to cause stop signs to be installed and
maintained on Redwood Road at the intersection with Ebener Street.
6.3.A. - Page 4
