Council Member Pierce gave an oral report on the recommendation for the governance <br />structure of Redwood City 2000 in order to continue to address community needs and <br />respond to agency involvement and expenditure needs. <br />M/S Howard/Howard to extend the meeting to 11:20 p.m. The motion passed by a <br />unanimous voice vote. <br />M/S Hartnett/Howard to adopt the following recommendations: <br />i) Approve the enclosed governance structure for Redwood City 2000. <br />ii) Reaffirmed Council Member Pierce to continue serving and Council Member <br />Howard to serve as alternate on the Coordinating Council. <br />(The City Manager will continue to serve on the Operations Committee.) <br />iii) Provide time for Council to set decision - making parameters for Council <br />representatives and discuss Council input for City / Redwood City 2000 focus areas. <br />The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote. <br />B) Bob Bury Day; (205) <br />Mayor Ruskin explained Bob Bury served six terms on the Council and has been Mayor <br />and continues to commit himself to the well being of the City. On October 13, an event will <br />be held to commemorate his service. <br />M/S Ira/Pierce to extend the meeting to 11:25 p.m. The motion passed by a unanimous <br />voice vote. <br />M/S Howard /Hartnett to name October 13, 2000 Bob Bury Day in recognition of decades of <br />service and commitment to Redwood City. The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote. <br />MINUTE ORDER 00 -282 <br />C) Council Member Ira stated that previously Mayor Ruskin had sent a letter and resolution <br />regarding binding arbitration. He requested authorization for Mayor Ruskin to send a letter <br />to the Governor's office stating the Council's opposition to binding arbitration as soon as <br />possible in conformance with the recommendations of the League of California Cities. <br />Consensus from Council was to send the letter to Governor Davis. (212) <br />MINUTE ORDER 00 -283 <br />13.
