<br /> ATTACHMENT 1 1.A~9 <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING <br /> LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS <br /> NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Redwood City will hold a public <br /> hearing on the expenditure of$19,147 in Local Law Enforcement Block Grant <br /> funds for which the City will receive. The Omnibus Appropriations Act authorized <br /> the Director of the Bureau of Justice Assistance to make funds available to units <br /> of local government under the Local Law Enforcement Block Grants (LLESG) <br /> program for the purposes of reducing crime and improving public safety. Funds <br /> must be used for one or more of the following seven proposed areas: <br /> · Law Enforcement Support: Hire, train additional officers, pay overtime to law <br /> enforcement officers, or procure equipment related to law enforcement <br /> functions. <br /> · Enhance security measures in and around schools or other facilities location <br /> considered a special risk for incidents of crime <br /> · Establish or support drug courts. " <br /> · Enhance the adjudication of cases involving violent offenders, including cases <br /> involving violent juvenile offenders. <br /> · Establishing a multi-jurisdictional task force to work with federal law <br /> enforcement to prevent and control crime. <br /> · Establish crime prevention programs to control, detect, or investigate crime or <br /> the prosecution of criminals. <br /> · Defray the cost of indemnification insurance for law enforcement officers. <br /> It will be the recommendation of the Police Chief to dedicate the funds for the <br /> purchase of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) equipment and the funding of <br /> Emergency Preparedness Training (EPT). <br /> You have the right to comment on the proposed expenditure at a public hearing <br /> to be held on the 11th day of October 2004, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, <br /> 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City California. Testimony must either be given <br /> in person at he time of the public hearing or received, in writing, by the police <br /> department prior to the date of the hearing, Testimony cannot be given over the <br /> phone. <br /> If you have any questions, please contact Sergeant Keith A.
