"Section 9.82. Section 1212 of the Plumbing Code <br />is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />"'Section 1212 (a) All piping used for the installation, <br />extension, alteration, or repair of any gas piping shall be <br />standard weight wrought iron or steel (galvanized or black), <br />yellow brass (containing not more than seventy-five (75) <br />percent copper), or internally tinned or equivalently <br />treated copper of iron pipe size. Approved PVC or PE pipe <br />shall be used in all buried piping systems. <br />"'(b) All such pipe shall be either new or shall <br />have been previously used for no other purpose than <br />conveying gas and shall be in good condition and free from <br />internal obstructions. Burred ends shall be reamed to the <br />full bore of the pipe. <br />"'(c) All fittings used in the connection of the above <br />piping shall be of malleable iron, yellow brass (containing <br />not more than seventy-five (75) percent copper) or approved <br />plastic fittings. <br />"'(d) All valves and appurtenances used in connection <br />with the above piping shall be of a type designed and approved <br />for use with fuel gas. <br />"Section 9.83. Section 1310 of the Plumbing Code is hereby <br />amended to read as follows: <br />"'Section 1310 (a) Water heaters generating a glow, <br />spark or flame capable of igniting flammable vapors may be <br />installed in a residential garage provided the pilots and <br />burners, or heating elements and switches, are at least <br />eighteen (18) inches (.5m) above the floor level. <br />"'(b) Where such water heaters installed within a <br />garage are enclosed in a separate, approved compartment <br />having access only from outside of the garage, such water <br />heaters may be installed at floor level provided the required <br />combustion air is also taken from the exterior of the garage. <br />Fuel burning water heaters having sealed combustion chambers <br />-3- <br />
