Page 3 <br /> Commissioners Review& Preview <br /> Chairperson Draeger stated appreciation with the City/Y partnership, Chris's leadership and the <br /> direction the Council is taking. The SAC has been involved with housing and the Bradford St. project. <br /> Hal and Jema will connect with Diana Reddy and stay informed with housing. Councilmember Borgens <br /> suggested involvement with the EI Camino corridor so developers know Redwood City expectations for <br /> low income housing. <br /> Bruce commended Commissioners Cooperman and James for their outreach to the Redwood Shores <br /> community seniors and the information they provided. <br /> Commissioner Paley reflected on the success of the Chase the Chill project. 433 handmade scarves were <br /> distributed. The programs will continue in 2017 with handmade scarves, socks and gloves. Jodi will also <br /> research the virtual garage program and various alternative transportation projects. <br /> Commissioner Britschgi reported that a senior picnic is planned for the sesquicentennial, perhaps at the <br /> VMSC, with Fair Oaks and VMSC seniors. Bruce will consult with Chris about it. <br /> Bruce announced that June 16th is Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Social media policies will be reviewed <br /> and presented this year. SAC 2016 speakers included 70 Strong, Wider Circle, Sequoia Village, Linkages, <br /> and Kevin Mullin. <br /> Vice Chairperson Cooperman announced that Fair Oaks resident,Joan Cooper, has joined the San Mateo <br /> County Commission on Aging. <br /> The 2017 SAC objectives include a joint meeting with the Parks and Recreation Commission and a joint <br /> meeting with the Y Board. SAC members will also attend other commission meetings. <br /> Chair Draeger will attend new facility meetings. Commissioner James will attend meetings of Complete <br /> Streets, El Camino Real Corridor, and the Bicycle Coalition. Commissioner Britschgi and Vice Chair-elect <br /> Paley will continue involvement with the Sesquicentennial. Commissioner Britschgi will also attend <br /> Planning Commission meetings. Commissioner Turk will be involved with housing and attend Housing <br /> and Human Concerns Commission meetings. <br /> Adjournment <br /> The retreat meeting of the Seniors Affairs Commission was adjourned at 2:15 p.m. The next meeting is <br /> on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Veterans Memorial Senior Center in Redwood City, <br /> California. <br />
