<br />Letter to Contractors and Developers: <br />As part of the user fee update outreach, City staff contacted companies that conduct <br />business in Redwood City and are directly affected by the fees under consideration. <br />Letters regarding the user fee update were sent to all 411 contractors and developers <br />with valid business licenses on file with the City. The letter served to notify contractors <br />and developers of the City’s intent to update development-related fees and provide <br />additional information regarding the user fee updates, including the opportunity for them <br />to participate in the online survey and submit comments. Out of the 411 contractors and <br />developers contacted, only one contractor provided comments. <br /> <br />Presentations to the Business Community: <br />Staff made four presentations to business groups with a total of 60 attendees. Business <br />groups presented to include: the Downtown Business Group, the Chamber of <br />Commerce Economic Development Committee, the Chamber of Commerce <br />Government Relations Committee, and the Redwood City Improvement Association. At <br />the meetings, staff provided an overview of the fee updates and encouraged meeting <br />attendees to visit the project website and take the online survey. <br /> <br />Presentations to Neighborhood Associations: <br />Staff presented to two neighborhood associations (Redwood Shores and Friendly <br />Acres) with a total of 50 attendees. Staff provided an overview of the fee updates and <br />encouraged meeting attendees to visit the project website and take the online survey. <br />Additionally, staff provided flyers with user fee information to all neighborhood <br />association chairs and co-chairs (25 residents) to share with their respective <br />associations. <br /> <br />Communications Outreach: <br />Over the course of the eight-week public outreach campaign, the City used Facebook, <br />Twitter, Nextdoor, and the City’s electronic newsletter to notify the public of the <br />proposed user fee updates and encourage them to take the survey and provide <br />feedback. <br /> <br />Next Steps <br />The second phase of the study is in progress, which focuses on Administrative <br />Services, City Clerk, Library Services, Parks, Recreation and Community Services, and <br />Public Works Services. The proposed fee modifications are currently under review by <br />the Library Board and the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission. <br />Staff anticipates bringing the second phase of the Fee Study to The City Council in June <br />2017. <br />8.B. - Page 8
