Consistent with <br />routine CDFW guidelines, the <br />approximately 53 native trees to be <br />removed by the project- including <br />approximately 50 coast live oaks, 2 coast <br />redwoods and 1 Oregon ash- shall be <br />replaced in kind at a 3:1 ratio throughout <br />the project site, including Parcel 1, the <br />scenic easement parcel. In addition, the one <br />non-native tree expected to be removed <br />shall be replaced at a 1:1 ratio. <br />Replacement trees shall be in good health <br />and should be from local stock if feasible. <br />Minimum size for replacement trees shall <br />be a 15- gallon container. Irrigation shall be <br />installed to ensure newly planted trees <br />receive appropriate watering for the <br />species. Newly planted trees shall also be <br />protected from deer browse. Replacement <br />trees shall be monitored for at least five <br />years and shall be re-planted if they die. <br />The City will integrate the replacement <br />trees into the project’s final landscape plan. <br />Should the landscape plan not be able to <br />accommodate all of the required mitigation <br />trees without over-crowding the site, the <br />City shall provide the remaining number of <br />mitigation trees to the Redwood City Tree <br />Bank Fund for planting in other parts of the <br />City. The mitigation trees shall be planted <br />within 12 months of project completion, in <br />a suitable site where long-term survival is <br />incorporate this <br />biology mitigation <br />measure into all <br />appropriate bid, <br />contract, and <br />engineering and site <br />plan (e.g. building, <br />grading, <br />improvement plans) <br />documents. <br />Timing: Prior to <br />any ground- <br />disturbing activities, <br />unless otherwise <br />specified. <br />contract, and <br />engineering and site <br />(building, grading, <br />improvement plans) <br />documents for inclusion <br />of biological measures. <br />The City shall inspect <br />the site to ensure trees <br />were installed according <br />to specifications. <br /> 8.A. - Page 23
