l:V4:lr;UdW_,M <br />SCOPE OF SERVICES <br />Peninsula Humane Society will provide monthly visits at all four Redwood City Public Library <br />locations, at which trained therapy animals, accompanied by trained volunteers, will be present so <br />that children age 5 and up can read stories aloud to the animals, increasing children's confidence and <br />reading skills. <br />The Library will allow Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA (PHS/SPCA) Pet Assisted Therapy <br />Program volunteers to bring their animals to the facility to visit clients with the understanding that all <br />animals shall remain under the exclusive control of the PHS/SPCA the entire time they are present at <br />the facility, and all PHS/SPCA volunteers and their animals have been evaluated and registered by <br />PHS/SPCA and have been certified as Canine Good Citizen through the AKC. <br />The Library agrees to not schedule PHS/SPCA Pet Assisted Therapy visits when an animal not <br />registered by PHS/SPCA is present as part of a Library program. PHS/SPCA volunteers and their <br />animals will not mingle with animals not registered by the PHS/SPCA. City has no control over the <br />presence of service animals accompanying visitors to libraries, but City will allow PHS/SPCA to <br />cancel programs at its discretion if the presence of a service animal presents a risk to human or <br />animal participants in the program. <br />The Library shall sign-up participants in the program before -hand and obtain parental waivers signed <br />for each participant, which shall include a waiver covering PHS/SPCA and its employees and <br />volunteers and shall include a waiver covering the City of Redwood City and its employees and <br />volunteers. <br />The Library will report any unacceptable PHS/SPCA volunteer conduct or accidents to the <br />PHS/SPCA Volunteer Department at 650-340-7022, ext. 328. <br />The Library agrees to provide free parking and an orientation for PHS/SPCA Pet Assisted Therapy <br />volunteers. The orientation will include: <br />• which entrance to use and where to go upon arrival <br />• who their contact person is and where to sign in <br />• which outside area animals may use to eliminate and where to dispose of waste <br />• the Facility rules and regulations that may affect the volunteers <br />REV: 04-03-1715 <br />Page 5 of 5 <br />ATTY/AGR.2017.068/Peninsula Humane Society - Paws for Tales <br />
