Economic Development Coordinator Webb explained that the resolution is to appropriate $15,000.00 out of the Redevelopment Agency budget for 2000/01 and approving an agreement between the Agency and the San Mateo Historical Association. She stated that the City Council, in April, indicated support for the San Marco County facilities master plan which includes demolition of the courthouse annex and recreation of a park plaza on the Broadway frontage. A committee of local landowners, businesspeople and representatives of both the City and County government have been meeting to determine how to proceed with regard to the annex demolition and park plaza creation. She stated, in September, the following recommendations have been made: that an assessment of the demolition costs and cost to prepare architectural plans, a funding strategy and restoration plans, and a design for the resulting park plaza that will be created on the Broadway frontage be prepared. The resolution authorizing the $15,000.00 is to be supplemented by private individual contributions matching this seed money.
