10/25/2004 <br />ORIGINAL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14614 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS /HER DESIGNEE TO <br />SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR A CALIFORNIA CULTURAL AND <br />HISTORIC ENDOWMENT GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,076,799 <br />FOR PARTIAL FUNDING OF FACADE RESTORATION OF THE <br />HISTORIC SAN MATEO COUNTY COURTHOUSE; REQUESTING <br />THAT, IF REQUIRED, THE REDWOOD CITY REDEVELOPMENT <br />AGENCY CONTRIBUTE MATCHING FUNDS FOR THE FACADE <br />RESTORATION PROJECT AND APPOINTING THE CITY MANAGER <br />OR HIS /HER DESIGNEE AS AGENT TO CONDUCT ALL <br />NEGOTIATIONS, TO EXECUTE ALL GRANT - RELATED DOCUMENTS <br />AND TO ACCEPT AND APPROPRIATE ANY GRANT FUNDS <br />RECEIVED <br />WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the California <br />Clean Water, Clean Air, Safe Neighborhood Parks, and Coastal Protection Act of 2002 <br />(the "Act ") which, among other things, provides funds to the California Cultural and <br />Historical Endowment (CCHE) Grant Program and, <br />WHEREAS, the CCHE has been delegated the responsibility for the <br />administration and establishment of the CCHE Grant Program; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City ( "City') desires to reconstruct the original <br />classical entrance facade of the 1910 Historic Courthouse (the "Project "), which is <br />located in Downtown Redwood City and is part of the Downtown Redevelopment <br />Project Area ( "Project Area "); and <br />WHEREAS, the City is the lead Project sponsor; and <br />WHEREAS, the City desires to apply for a $2,076,799 CCHE Grant; and <br />WHEREAS, CCHE Grant Program procedures require the City to certify, by <br />resolution, the approval of an application before submitting it to the CCHE; and <br />WHEREAS, if the City is awarded a CCHE grant, the City will enter into a Grant <br />Agreement with the CCHE for the Project; and <br />WHEREAS, the City is committed to entering into a separate agreement with the <br />appropriate parties regarding the operation and maintenance of the Project site; and <br />WHEREAS, the CCHE requires the City to identify $2,076,799 in matching <br />Atty /Reso /Reso.1492 City CCHE 14614 <br />101904 1 Muff # 404 <br />
