These services include
outdoor and indoor enrichment activities, athletic fields, two pools, skate park,
community centers, and fitness services. The focus of this study was specifically on
facility and park / picnic rentals.
The Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department operates and
manages several different recreation centers. All of the recreation centers include
different types of space ranging from classrooms, multipurpose rooms, to gymnasium,
and auditoriums. In addition to offering recreation centers for rental, the Parks,
Recreation, and Community Services Department also rents out picnic areas and park
areas. The following subsections discusses the current structure of facility and park
rentals, the full cost associated with Recreation Center Rentals, and a comparison of
rental rates to other local jurisdictions.
1. CURRENT RENTAL RATE STRUCTURE
The majority of the recreation centers are used for providing classroom based
activities and practice space for adult and youth athletics. While some recreation
centers are specific to certain types of activities such as the Veterans Memorial Senior
Center focuses on the Senior population, other recreation centers are turn-key facilities,
which are only accessible during specific times of the day, week, month, or year.
7.A. - Page 34
