5. SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAY — <br />A. Water Ferry Update: Steve Morrison, Water Transit Authority <br />Steve Morrison gave the background and provided a PowerPoint presentation <br />demonstrating Redwood City's position in the timeline for implementation of the <br />new ferry service. <br />Council Member Howard expressed her inspiration in working with the Water <br />Transit Authority. She stated that the authority is supportive of Redwood City <br />bringing water transit to the city. She further stated her hope that Measure A <br />passes to provide further funding to South San Francisco and in the future, <br />benefit Redwood City. She also announced that on October 2, 9 and 23, the <br />Port and the Water Transit Authority with the City of San Francisco are <br />sponsoring a trip to the downtown Ferry Building. The ferry boards and leaves <br />from the Port of Redwood City, for information go to www.watertransit.org to <br />save a seat for the free excursion. <br />6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br />M/S Bain /Howard to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances <br />by title, adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. Council <br />Member Foust requested Item 6.1.E be removed for separate consideration. The <br />motion passed by a unanimous roll call vote by those present with Council <br />Members Hartnett and Ruskin absent. <br />6.1 Section — Motions <br />A. Approve the Joint City Council and Redevelopment Agency Meeting minutes of <br />September 13, 2004 as submitted; (301) MINUTE ORDER 04 -176 <br />B. Agreement with the First 5 Commission of San Mateo County for the Redwood <br />City Early Learning and Family Support Program.
