NON- AGENDA ITEM <br />Mayor Greenalch presented Proclamation to C. A. Trifeletti, 1988 Citizen of <br />the Year, for his distinguished works benefiting Kainos Home and Training <br />Programs and also commended Mr. Leo W. Crawford, and Kainos Director Dorothy <br />Philbrick and her husband James Philbrick for their service to our community. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - - - -- <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS - Taken out of Order <br />The following people spoke in favor of adopting PERS medical plan to <br />compensate for loss of Blue Cross coverage for Redwood City employees: <br />Joe Brenner, SEIU Local 715, 735 E. Bayshore, Redwood City, presented a <br />petition signed by employees endorsing this request. <br />Gordon Mann, President of Redwood City Management Employees Association, <br />presented a petition signed by employees endorsing this request. <br />Joe Rodriguez, President of the Redwood City Police Officers Association. <br />Art Balsamo, representing Redwood City retirees. <br />M /S: Buchan /LaBerge to refer this matter to Council personnel committee to <br />work out equitable solution and report back to Council as soon as possible. <br />Carried unanimously by voice vote. Public Hearing - Nuisance Abatement <br />Report: Community Development Director 12/27/88 resubmitted 2/23/89 <br />Affidavit of Publication of Notice of Hearing is on file. <br />Building Officer John LaTorra and Code Enforcement Officer Jerome Snell <br />presented slides depicting nuisance problems resolved by proposed ordinance <br />and explained need for one additional enforcement officer. <br />In response to questions Mr. LaTorra described intent of ordinance to <br />prohibit permanently stored trash cans, inoperative vehicles, recreational <br />vehicles, trailers, appliances and other nuisances in front of property, <br />and described consistency of this ordinance with current zoning regulations <br />and the appeal process. <br />Mayor Greenalch declared the public hearing open at 8:44 p.m. <br />Robert Slusser, 541 Cringle Drive, Redwood City spoke in favor of the <br />ordinance. <br />Mayor Greenalch asked if there were any others who wished to speak.
