Matters of Council Interest (continued) <br />b. Councilman Bury attended the In Service Coordinating Council on March 13th <br />and heard their plans for July 4th celebration. <br />C. Councilman Bury represented Redwood City at the Joint meeting of the cities <br />of San Mateo County Library System on March 11, 1989. <br />d. Councilwoman Buchan reported the Council personnel committee is to meet with <br />staff and the health care committee to discuss the health care issue. <br />e. Councilwoman Buchan reported on the Redwood City Coalition for a Drug Free <br />Community noting the Redwood City Weekly will print for free a needs <br />assessment coupon for citizens to fill in with solutions and comments and <br />send in. Councilwoman Buchan will report results. <br />f. Vice Mayor LaBerge invited everyone to join in a Redwood City clean -up to <br />take place in Redwood shores on April 8, 1989 sponsored by the Beautification <br />Committee. <br />g. Vice Mayor LaBerge reminded everyone about the 2nd annual Mayors Awards for <br />upgrading homes and commercial properties also sponsored by the <br />Beautification Committee. Deadline for submitting entry is May 15, 1989. <br />h. Mayor Greenalch reported on the dedication of the Rosselli Memorial Garden <br />on March 7, 1989. <br />i. Mayor Greenalch represented the Council on March 11, 1989 at the 25th <br />anniversary of the Community Education Center. <br />j. Mayor Greenalch attended the Kainos Home and Training Center 14th annual <br />dinner on March 10, 1989. <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />BOARD, COMMISSION AND COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />1. Oral Report regarding 49er synthetic turf (601 -02) <br />Report: Vice Mayor Georgi LaBerge 3/10/89 <br />Jim Monroe, 955 Chestnut Street, San Carlos, consultant with Fathom Group, <br />described promotional ideas and use of warehouse. <br />Councilman Bury expressed his continued concern that due to the drought and <br />limited resources the city is not in a position to deal with rehabilitating <br />the field after removing 47,000 square feet of usable turf. <br />Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director Peter Griffiths advised <br />Council the final agreement with the 49ers provided a total of $178,000 to <br />the City to be used to rehabilitate the field. <br />Reg.Mtg. <br />3/13/89 <br />Page 2 <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 48 <br />Page No. 326 <br />
