new infrastructure installations on existing poles and why they have chosen <br /> Redwood City as one of their first cities in their silicon valley target market. <br /> <br /> Council discussion ensued regarding tangible and intangible benefits for Redwood <br /> City residents, encroachments fights, trench rights, undergrounding obligations, time <br /> tables for actual installation to commence, rates, visual impact concerns, procedures <br /> and process for public courtesy notice of upcoming eonstruetion in neighborhoods. <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Ruskin suggested that RCN work with City staff first before <br /> construction is planned and noticed in order to better facilitate minimal <br /> neighborhood and traffic impacts and expressed eoneem that full legal research be <br /> conducted as to how we can mutually benefit Redwood City. <br /> <br /> City Attorney Sehricker stated his office is involved in these negotiations and are <br /> knowledgeable of the parameters, noting agreements for Council approval will be <br /> forthcoming. <br /> <br /> Council expressed their appreciation for this information. <br /> <br />6. COUNCIL ANNOUNCEMENTS/REPORTS <br /> <br /> A. Report from Mayor Howard and Vice-Mayor Ruskin Regarding Ongoing <br /> Communication with Boards, Committees and Commissions <br /> <br /> Mayor Howard and Vice Mayor Ruskin reported as the past one year schedule of <br /> Study Sessions with Council appointed Boards, Committees and Commissions has <br /> been completed, they recommend the following: 1) Council will schedule one Study <br /> Session during the year with the Boards, Committees or Commissions most directly <br /> involved in implementation of Council priorities; 2) the Mayor and Vice-Mayor will <br /> schedule meetings with the Chair and/or Vice-Chair, or designee of all Boards, <br /> Committees and Commissions to be held three times a year, which would focus on <br /> review of initiatives and evaluation of results. <br /> <br /> It was the consensus of Council to add another Council Member to the three times a <br /> year meetings, on a rotational basis. MEMO 2/9/99 <br /> <br />7. ADJOURNMENT - 8:44 p.m. <br /> M/S Leipzig/Jordan to adjourn the meeting and cancel the Regular Meeting of <br /> February 15, 1999 due to Presidents Day holiday.
