ORIGINAL <br />AGREEMENT <br />BETWEEN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />AND <br />THE SEQUOIA UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />FOR SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM <br />This Agreement is made and entered into this Iq day of �2017, <br />by and between the City of Redwood City ("City") and the Se oia pion High <br />School District ("District") (collectively, the "Parties"). <br />RECITALS <br />This Agreement is entered into with reference to the following facts and <br />circumstances: <br />A. Since the year 2000, the Redwood City Police Department has provided a <br />School Resource Officer ("SRO") at Sequoia High School. The SRO is involved in a <br />variety of activities that enhance safety on campus and provide a positive police <br />presence, increasing the Police Department's ability to serve the needs of the entire <br />Redwood City community. <br />B. The partnership between Sequoia High School and the Police Department <br />is an important part of on-going efforts to reach out to the youth in the community and <br />establish strong relationships with community members. <br />C. The District agrees to partially fund the SRO salary during the nine months <br />when the high school is in session. The District has requested 40 hours per week of <br />SRO services at Sequoia High School for the 2017-18 school year (July 1, 2017 - June <br />30, 2018). <br />NOW, THEREFORE, for and in consideration of the collaborative agreements <br />herein contained, the sufficiency of which are hereby acknowledged, the Parties hereto <br />agree as follows: <br />1. Term and Termination. The term of this Agreement shall be for a period <br />beginning on July 1, 2017 and ending June 30, 2018. <br />2. Obliciation of the Citv. During the term of this Agreement, City hereby <br />covenants and agrees to the following: <br />A. The City agrees to provide a SRO for Sequoia High School to <br />address safety issues as described below. <br />i. SRO on site <br />at Sequoia High <br />School during 38 weeks of <br />school instruction for forty <br />(40) <br />hours per week, <br />excluding recognized school <br />holidays, with the days of <br />the <br />week and hours <br />to be jointly determined by <br />REV: 03-2417 MI <br />Page 1 of 5 <br />ATTY/AGR.2017.055/Sequoia Union High School District <br />
