EXHIBIT A
Urban Forestry Consultant Services
Computerized concrete damage and tree inventory for the City of Redwood City.
Scope of Work: Complete City wide concrete damage and tree inventory for the
entire city,
I. Work Plan
A. Inventory Routing:
The city will be divided into logical work units and tasks, using existing
grid maps.
ª'- Inventory Scope:
All concrete damage locations, tree locations, and potential planting sites
in the public right of way will be inventoried,
k.. Automated Data Collection:
Data will be collected using hand-held microcomputers. The use of hand-
helds has several advantages over recording the data on paper data
sheets. The most important advantages are (1) it saves the keying in of
data; (2) avoids data translation errors; (3) provides powerful editing
features; (4) accurately captures data (through use of our custom data
capture computer program, invalid data responses can be detected and
corrected at the time of entry),
D. Data Quality Control:
The most important facet of successful implementation of such an
automated tree identification system is good data. Data quality will be
monitored during the entire inventory process. Due to our extensive
experience in the urban tree inventory process we are able to anticipate
and trap most sources of error,
THOMAS J.
