Lynch Senior Civil Engineer City of Redwood City 1017 Midd lefield Road Redwood City, CA 94064 Subject: Redwood Shores Park and School Construction Management Fees Dear Mr. Lynch: We have recently awarded the final phase of the project and commenced construction on the community center. With the schedule now locked-in, Vanir can forecast that the expected completion of the project is March 31, 1998. Due to drrumstances beyond Vanir's control, the project duration is longer than anticipated and we have prepared the attached proposal to continue the current level of construction management services to March 31, 1998 for your review and approval. The project, as initially conceived, was to be one contract with design starting in July 1995, and construction completing September 1997. Actual design commenced in March of 1996, and although the school will open in September 1997, the community center will not be completed until March 31, 1998, as noted above. The deferred design start, extended review by the Department of the State Architects (DSA) and rebid of the community center œntributed to the extended project duration. The additional fees to maintain the current level of staffing indicates extending the Construction Manager, Pat Walls to April 30, 1998 to allow for close out and assist in warranty issues. Total cost for additional services including antidpated reimbursables is $100,640 or $50,320 per client Pre-approved reimbursables are charged to the client at œst without markup. We trust that the value added by Vanir's services is evident and we look forward to œntinuing our part in this project.
