CONSENSUS: Mayor Greenalch determined it to be the consensus of the Council <br />to suggest to Carole Henley she put her requests in writing and send them to <br />the Council so they may be put on the agenda for formal action. <br />MEMO 9/19/89 <br />Andy Seliqman, 514 Rocky Way, Redwood City asked for information on actual <br />costs to upgrade the system to determine if it would be better to pay for <br />improvements or endure the system as it is, and suggested residents of the <br />Emerald Lake Hills area were willing to do what was right and reasonable to <br />obtain the best water delivery system possible. <br />Councilman Claire described the report done three years ago on improving <br />water system in Emerald Lake Hills which put the total cost at $10,000,000. <br />Council determined residents of Emerald Lake Hills would not be receptive to <br />the suggestion they pay for these improvements through an assessment district <br />and therefore Council was forced to take no action at that time. Councilman <br />Claire suggested going forward at this time with staff recommendations <br />subject to yearly review with appropriate adjustments of the multiplier. <br />M /S: Murray /Claire to conclude water rate portion and continue public <br />hearing to October 16, 1989 to initiate testimony on sewer rates. <br />Carried by unanimous roll call vote. <br />M /S: Murray /Claire to affirm policy of equalizing costs for the water <br />utility throughout the rate base for users in Redwood City. <br />Carried by unanimous roll call vote. <br />MINUTE ORDER NO. 89 -121 <br />Council requested staff to provide additional information on the following <br />issues: <br />a. cost of the Easter Bowl complex and is it serving the Emerald Lake Hills <br />area or only Canada College <br />b. provide alternative methods of conservation measures, such as billings based <br />on comparative use and set parameters for businesses, single family homes <br />and apartments <br />c. report on water costs in neighboring jurisdictions <br />MEMO 9/19/89 <br />---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />CLOSED SESSION <br />Mayor Greenalch adjourned the meeting to a closed session at 9:25 p.m. to reconvene <br />in approximately 30 minutes. <br />After motion duly made, seconded and carried Council adjourned the closed session <br />Minutes <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 49 9/18/89 <br />Page No. 97 Page 3 <br />
