Gus Pappas, 587 Seahorse Lane, Redwood City told Council how much he and his <br />wife enjoyed the tour and lunch aboard the SS Jeremiah O'Brien, described the <br />importance of America's industrial efforts during World War II, and thanked the <br />Port Director and Port Commission for doing such a great job. <br />b. Manuel Sotomavor, 12 Riviera Circle, Redwood City urged Council to consider <br />inclusionary zoning in the General Plan as in -lieu fees only provide seed money <br />and not actual housing units built through inclusionary zoning. <br />------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - - - - -- <br />MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br />a. Councilwoman Buchan reminded everyone that October 20th begins Red Ribbon Week <br />campaign against alcohol and drug abuse and announced the dance to be held at <br />Red Morton Center, October 20, 1989 at 7:00 p.m. needs volunteer staffers. <br />b. Councilwoman Buchan provided Red Ribbon T- shirts to her fellow Councilmembers. <br />c. Councilwoman Buchan advised that the Park and Recreation Department Carnival for <br />children on October 31, 1989 also needs volunteers. <br />d. Vice Mayor LaBerge advised she represented Redwood City at the San Mateo County <br />Summer Jobs for Youth reception on October 11 and accepted the top award, on <br />behalf of private businesses in the City and the City as employer, for <br />providing the most summer jobs for youth. <br />e. Councilman Bury described the redevelopment activity he observed during his trip <br />recent trip to Europe and his chance meeting in Brussels with members of the <br />senior softball league from the peninsula. <br />------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - - - - -- <br />STAFF REPORTS <br />2.
