<br />.- --.. ,-._-,...... ..--~.._- <br />R E P CJ R T TO THE HONORABLE <br /> MA YOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br /> FROM THE CITY MANAGER <br />August 26, 1996 <br />SUBJECT <br /> . <br />Execution of a one year Agreement (1996/97) with the County of San Mateo for Fair Oaks <br />Community Center Information and Referral Program. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to enter into subject <br />agreement with the County of San Mateo for the provision of Information and Referral Services <br />at the Fair Oaks Community Center. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City has contracted with the County of San Mateo to provide Information and Referral <br />Services at the Fair Oaks Community Center since 1978. As such, the Center is one of seven <br />(7) Core Service Centers throughout the. County funded to provide a focal point for residents <br />seeking information on human service programs including referrals to emergency material <br />assistance providers. Currently, the Fair Oaks Community Center's Information and Referral <br />program is staffed by 2.5 bilingual (Spanish/English) Community Services Specialists and two <br />(2) volunteers who donate more than sixteen (16) hours per week, to the service. Together <br />they respond to an average of three hundred (300) contacts per month ranging from requests <br />for immediate shelter or food to assistance with completion or translation of forms. A detailed <br />summary of the program activities is included for your review as Attachment I. <br />The last two years, the County of San Mateo contributed $37,248 to help fund 1.5 FTE <br />Community Services Specialists.
