A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY APPROVING THE TEMPORARY STREET AND SIDEWALK CLOSURES FOR THE SHERIFF’S ACTIVITIES LEAGUE FOOD, WINE, & HEROES FUNDRAISER WHEREAS, because of the impact that special events have on City streets and traffic when a full or partial street closure is required for such a special event, the City Council of the City of Redwood City finds that it is crucial that any such routes be thoroughly reviewed and analyzed to enable careful planning of such special events in order to minimize impacts to the general public where such street closures are permitted; and WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code Section 21101(e) authorizes the City to temporarily close a portion of any street for a local special event when the local authority determines the closure is necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to use that portion of the street during the temporary closing; and WHEREAS, after thorough review, analysis, and planning the City Council does hereby establish the following necessary partial street and sidewalk closures for the Sheriff’s Activities League Food, Wine, & Heroes fundraiser. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: 1. On Thursday, October 12th, 2017, Broadway, between Hamilton Street and Middlefield Road, and the west sidewalk of Broadway between the entrance to Starbucks, located at 2227 Broadway, and the entrance to the Quinto Sol restaurant, located at 2201 Broadway, will be closed from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in order to allow the Sheriff’s Activities League Food, Wine, & Heroes fundraiser event to occur. * * * 6.3.A. - Page 4
